History : For his first-full time season, David Pearson drove a ’66 Dodge Charger that was prepared by popular driver and owner Cotton Owens. During this season, Pearson won 15 of the 49 “Grand National” NASCAR events held that year, which was the second-highest total in the sport’s history. By the season’s end Pearson was celebrating his first championship. He went on to earn two more championships in 1968 and 1969.
